This is kind of been the thing that's been lurking under the surface for decades now. As hardcore fans, we knew about this years ago. I imagine most of you, like me, first learned about it from the "Walk This Way" biography from 1997 where Steven talks about his relationship with an underage teen "Diana", which was just a pseudonym for Julia Holcomb. I expect the lawyers must have told them to use the "Diana" pseudonym, as I imagine there were lawsuit concerns then as well. However, the more casual concert goer probably wasn't aware of this previously and this lawsuit might be the thing that really takes this into the mainstream and derails whatever is left of Aerosmith's career at this point. Maybe Steven is able to get this settled quietly but the way the culture in this country is right now, this could really blow up in his face and force Aerosmith to truly become even more inactive than they currently are.

The entire situation is embarrassing. I'm all for protecting minors and having strict laws there, but I have no sympathy for this Julia WholeCum. It's one of the most frivolous lawsuits I've ever seen. Reading through the summary, she claims that she buried her past and moved on with her life, but then was re-traumatized by excerpts in Steven's books. Segments about someone named Diana brought unwanted attention and further trauma to her, even though her name was never mentioned except for being misspelled in the acknowledgements section, which I think is just a list of names with no context attached.
This isn't about protecting a minor, which she hasn't been in nearly 50 years. This is a lifelong whore who always craved attention and has never taken any responsibility for her actions. She started as a young cum dumpster for rockers, bagged one of the biggest stars out there then bragged about for years. She'd talk about it to anyone who would listen until she got old and nobody wanted to picture that anymore, so then she goes the poor victim route. Nobody's really buying it so she just starts yelling louder and making more ridiculous claims.
On the Aero side, why they hell would Steven every implicate himself of Statutory Rape in a book? Sure, he's a dick wagging dumbass who's ego has it's own gravitational field, but don't they have managers and lawyers who are supposed to vet this shit? I remember reading Walk This Way and really cringing at those parts. It's so unbelievably stupid that anyone assigned to proof\edit the books would see those sections and think it was a good idea to publish them.

Agree. I think in Walk This Way she is described as 14. But then every other account I’ve heard says 16. It was a different time.
I do think this story / lawsuit has been hanging in the background ever since “me too” really broke. I’ve heard more about this woman in the last 4 or 5 years than at any other point. As a consequence, I feel like that’s why the 50th anniversary celebration has been so muted.
I hope this blows over. Frustrating she is trying to drag Steven’s 5 decades later. Come on.
Bob Dylan is also going through this.

Honestly, I am surprised there hasn’t been more. Steven has always liked the young girls and have put half naked teens in the front row for years. It’s also pretty common knowledge that Steven was a guest on Epstein’s plane too. Regardless of what anyone thinks of Julia Holcomb, she is a victim and she deserves closure just as much as anyone else that was abused as a minor.
Some people in other Aerosmith groups are wondering if the lawsuit is why Steven ended the tour. Didn’t the fill in drummer (sorry I forgot his name) say there was some big things with Aerosmith planned for next year but some things might derail that.
Hopefully this will be settled quickly out of court and it won’t be that much of a big deal. After all, almost everyone knew about the Holcomb story for decades.

This story has been common knowledge for decades. Why now? I am inclined to believe because he's not well, she's after getting a few quid out of him whilst she can. Smacks of opportunism. Steven's always been open about it. I sense an out of court settlement.

California temporarily lifted the statute of limitations on these crimes for 3 years. The deadline to file a lawsuit is December 31, 2022....go figure.
Scanning the comments the public is not behind her on this:
Many more comments like this, but you get the idea.

Regardless, these types of suits can inflict permanent damage, even if they are baseless or opportunist. It’s not a good look for Tyler and I remember being disappointed when I read about it in Walk This Way, when I was a teenager myself in the 90s. Tyler has made many sexual comments in interviews that are cringe and really haven’t aged well. Even shoving his crotch into the camera at the Vegas shows. He is eccentric - that’s what makes him an incredible front man - but the world has changed and it won’t be kind to Steven, assuming the media chooses to cover this story and pull the thread

Very, very sad situation.
Try to put yourself in their shoes.
Julia's dad left her, her brother and sister, their mom. And there was nothing she could do about her dad leaving. Her mom made yet another terrible choice remarrying an alcoholic. And there was nothing she could do about her mom's second miserably failed marriage. Her brother and grandfather died in a car crash, which also left her grandmother damaged forever and there was nothing she could do about it. Her mom remarried yet again and there was nothing she could do about it. The new stepdad didn't get along with the girls, which made the older one just get the fuck out of there and made the younger one wish she could too. This was the teenager that Steven met. For this girl, his interest in her must have been such a power trip. For the first time ever, she had control over something. Over a guy's dick. Hey, it's still something more than nothing... She probably thought it was her ticket away from what was left of her family. She probably didn't feel like she had any business being around her mom and stepdad anymore anyway. She probably thought Steven would "save" her, they'd live happily ever after and everything would finally be alright. The "if only I can make this happen, then everything will be alright" is a bit of magical thinking and pretty common with troubled teens.
Now somebody should have probably had a chat with her, but unfortunately, that didn't happen.
Steven was dealing with his own shit and, while he probably did care about her in his own fucked up way, he was nowhere near qualified to help in any way. I seem to recall her mentioning at one point that a part of why he took an interest in her was her life story, which is just... holy mother of all red flags! Not like either of them would have been capable of seeing that. He did want to fuck her and she obviously enjoyed the feeling of power which she got from being the object of his desire, so that happened.
Two messed up people who only further scarred each other.
She claims to have found her way after Steven, but... from short little clips and recent quotes attributed to her, I kind of doubt it. More like her demons just changed shape instead of going away. I'm not even sure this shape is any better than the old one from her teens.
And it looks like Steven's attempts to make peace with it have rubbed her the wrong way. And maybe someone close to her was also looking to fan the fire. A couple of articles have mentioned she filed this two days before it would have been too late for her to do so. This looks like something that someone who's not sure about what to do and is dealing with external pressure would do. Takes one to know one...

It was the top story on Yahoo this morning, for whatever that is worth.

Thank you for putting it in words even this dummy could understand. I didn't exactly understand how exactly it worked from the articles I've seen mentioning it.

Steven has his big Janie’s Fund charity event for the Grammys in early February. This probably will tank it. This story is getting a lot of coverage.
We all knew about this, but this doesn’t feel like it’s going to bode well for Steven or Aerosmith.

I just hope this doesn't open a can of worms. '75 was a long time ago.... A different era. It's been well documented he was like a dog with 2 dicks throughout the 90's..... And by his own admission. The 90's is an entirely different era. As is now.
Time will tell....

With social medias, there's no scope for thought or context. Everything is reduced to a tacky 'Headline'. And sadly, that's what the majority of people go off. 'Steven Tyler was a Paedo'.... That kind of shite. And that sticks.
I often hate this digital world....
