I don't get it. Why does everyone say it's a farewell? What is it about "peace out" that hints at that?

It seems like a more serious farewell than AeroVederci!

They might as well advertise it as a farewell tour. Isn't that what everyone is doing these days? It very well could be. At their age there is a lot of uncertainty and things out of their control, but I don't think they are saying they are definitely done. What Joe told Jim Sullivan of the Boston Globe before his April 16th Boston show is likely a more honest take on the bands current status: And if it feels like this all happened before, Steven went on Howard Stern 7 years ago to announce a farewell tour. bestclassicbands.com/steven-tyler-aerosmith-farewell-tour-6-22-16/

True, but the situation is a little different now then it was then. Joey can't perform full-time, Joe had his health scare, Brad did that interview where he kinda went off a little, Steven with his health issues and now the stress of the lawsuit and Tom, well I'm just thankful that Tom seems to be doing okay. What I'm saying is what we all (and you) have been saying for some time now. They aren't getting any younger and now it is starting to effect things on stage as they had to replace a core element to the band.
Maybe peacing out while still going pretty strong is a better option then being forced into retirement because of something more permanent. Like what recently happened with Fleetwood Mac.

Great catch! Even though it likely would be their last proper tour, disappointing they're going the "farewell" route. Tickets are going to be mighty expensive.

Tickets are going to be mighty expensive. Yes, tix will be expensive and TM will be up to their old tricks, holding back seats to limit supply vs demand (supply and demand right?...economics 101) and trickling out platinum seats a few at a time to maximize profit, and then releasing the remaining ones weeks and days before the show for standard price. If you can't get good tix at the right price, resist the urge to buy something or anything just to be there. There will be plenty of opportunities between now and then. if you have to spend big bucks, well, that opportunity will still exist going forward, so resist that initial temptation!

It's hard to resist, but face value tickets do seem to pop up leading up to the event date.

Any chance this tour doesn’t sell well? Is Aerosmith still an act that can sell out 40 arenas across the country? They haven’t had a hit song in 20 years. I just wonder if the shine on their star has faded too much at this point.
They did sell out Fenway last year, but that was also a hometown crowd

That being said, I saw an article on a potential farewell tour yesterday and the comments including things like: "Steve Tyler, no thanks" and "Isn't Steven Tyler accused of some serious crimes right now? Not interested"

It's a very NY metro area video. MSG, UBS and The Rock all featured. If there is a question as to how well tix will sell, 3 arenas in the same metro area is quite daring. Will all three shows be around the same time, or spread out over time? Is it possible there will be another act on the bill? Will there be a free dinner buffet? Just sayin'.

I'm surprised about Prudential Center being one of them. Hopefully with 3 arena shows close by plus Philly , tickets will come down in price as time gets closer on the secondary market. If in the area it may be wise to sit the initial on sale out and see what happens. I can't see them not having a decently known opening act to help sell tickets.
